Yet again, the weather got in the way of training. As a coach especially at the end of the season this can be frustrating but is the nature of the beast coaching in North Idaho. At the end of the season it's especially tricky because is pushing for one more practice really going to make that big of a difference compared to a night off for little athlete bodies that might benefit from a longer break, especially at the younger age? On the other hand, parents have an expectation of how many trainings will be held in a season and for teams that are competing for league placement for playoffs at the end of the year, one or two trainings to go over smaller details could really be the difference between moving on and missing out. From a director standpoint, emails and phones are quickly flooded by coaches trying to get precious, limited indoor time. Even though it's generally on a "first come, first serve" basis for indoor space and time, what happens if a U10 coach checks their email quicker than the U14 coach? Do you stick to the "first come, first serve" mentality? The directors have said in the past that the assigning of indoor time is a balancing act and older teams will get priority, so there isn't a cut and clear equation to who will fit and who won't. I think they do a pretty good job of getting back to people in a timely manner, but they also wait long enough for most teams to have a chance to reach out if they plan to that way it can still be a little bit of both with first come, first serve...with age considerations.
