First thing, a rant: As a someone who bounces around from trainings, sometimes inside, sometimes outside, sometimes the temperature drops 20 degrees in one hour, I will never ever apologize again for leaving so many clothing options in my car. I attempted to be a responsible adult by taking in my puffy jacket last night instead of leaving it in my car and I only had a lame, thin rain jacket for OUTSIDE training tonight. My car is my locker and it shall remain that way for the rest of my coaching/director time.
End rant.
Moving on... Yesterday Julio sent out an email to the coaches letting them know that the club is going to shut down trainings between December 20th and at least the second week of January to give the kids and the coaches a break. He explained how this helps to avoid burnout for everyone and allow healing for the players, especially the multi-sport athletes. Mike said that each year there are coaches that want to train "just once a week, it won't hurt!" and every year he has to explain the importance of a break over and over. I absolutely love coaching, but each year (just like teaching) I can't wait for breaks. It's just as important to rest as it is to train.
