Today was a very slow day chipping away at mentorship hours. Most of my time was going through and editing and making suggestions to Mike and the other director's emails and newsletters that they plan on sending out soon. As a teacher, I have learned that "a few quick emails" is never that simple and usually much more time consuming than expected. While this is my personal preference of communication, I don't think many parents or coaches understand how long it takes to get back to emails throughout the day and how much they can add up. With all things funneling to Mike, he has a lot of emails that "could be easily replied to" on top of his other director duties. I could probably have had an entire mentorship just replying to parent emails sent for Mike.

Mike also asked me to type up a Thank You email for Kyle and Mike from the Portland Timbers. I sent it to him with some pictures for him to look over before sending out to Kyle and Mike. It was great to meet Kyle and Mike at the different training sessions and Town Hall meeting. I love learning from coaches with different perspectives. The whole experience of coaching with Julio and Mike even though I've done it before has been a good reminder that, if I continue coaching, I need to get out more. Even just hanging around taking pictures at other coach's trainings and games is incredibly insightful.
