Today was a great day for North Idaho soccer! Many teams are playing their last or nearly last game this week. This creates a strange buzz as people are anxious for it another season to be done so that they can relax and refresh or anxious for the ending out of sadness of another season passing. I'm rarely just an audience member at games since I'm usually coaching if I'm at club games. I've also sat on the sidelines with the other directors and this was a different feel from that too. Most of the parents recognize the four main directors and so they change their personality to be on their best behavior, uptight, or bombard the directors with questions, suggestions, or complaints. To build on my previous comments about the importance of thanking the parents within the club, it was fun to watch them be so locked in and supportive of their kids. Hopefully I can capture more pictures for the project without seeming like a super creep. Side note - that has been an adjustment for me taking pictures for social media marketing. While some parents know me, sometimes I feel like a weird snowman all bundled up just showing up to games for a little bit, taking a few pictures, then leaving. That was not something I had considered for the this position. I doubt many parents even notice me, but it is definitely a feeling I've noticed. I try to make it obvious that I'm part of the club, but my big puffy jacket doesn't have any club logos on it. I didn't think my nonverbal communication was going to come into play in this experience but I do what I can like going over to the sidelines with the coaches and communicating that I belong there taking pictures rather than being so hesitant in what I'm doing.
