Getting into November means that the season is wrapping up for the majority of our younger teams. Today I went down to Wenatchee for Julio for most of my hours. It's unusual for a director to take such a young B team like this, but this team is so challenging I think it was a good thing Julio has been working with them. This team has attitude, coachability, and parent challenges. As frustrating as coaching this team has been with Julio, I guess I appreciate that he trusts me to work with this challenging group. This got me thinking about the pressure of coaching assignments each year. The club has the goal of rotating teams every two to three years to avoid personality crashes, coach retention in case someone is extremely unhappy with their groups, avoid favoritism situations, and allow players a wide variety of coaching styles. This was different for me because between sixth grade and senior year, I only had two different coaches that entire time. After hearing from the directors about why they do this, it made sense as to why they did this. It's just a good reminder to get away from the mindset of "this is how we've always done it."
