Working with Vito again, today was the College Information Night held at Lake City High School in Coeur d'Alene. I am so happy for these future college athletes that they have people like Vito and the other directors to help guide them down the right path to achieve whatever collegiate goals they have. They help them realize their potential, but also help them reach out to college and universities that they think would be the best fit for their skill set.

The information night was in the auditorium of the high school. The panel of coaches from Gonzaga, Eastern, Community Colleges of Spokane, and North Idaho College were seated in the front to discuss what kind of athletes they are looking for, a bit about their program and the school, and open for questions from parents and athletes. One thing I enjoyed about their answers was the bluntness and honesty of their answers. They wanted their answers to be clear and minimal grey area. They also did a great job of keeping the focus on the players and their aspirations rather than pumping up the parent's egos who were trying to live through their kids. About 70 people showed up, approximately half and half of athletes to parents. This is something I hope to be able to get involved with more in the future. I know how much being a college athlete impacted my life and I would love to help others achieve those goals.
